If you're obsessed with the modelling industry (guilty) and are interested in some other jobs you can do other than be a model then I have some great news for you - there are heaps of different people who make the magic happen!

1. Model agent

What they do: Model agents are responsible for linking up the right model with the right brand. They scout new models, organise test shoots, and link up the right brand with the right model.

Do you need formal qualifications? No - most of the training will come from prior industry experience or will be trained on the job. 

How to get started: Try and get an internship with your local modelling agency!


2. Photographer

What they do: Photographers take the photos! They often also set up the lighting and do the post shoot edits.

Do you need formal qualifications? Yes - it's a good idea to do a course in photography as it will give you the skills you need and help you build a portfolio. 

How to get started: Complete a course and then try and secure some work using your portfolio!


3. Stylist

What they do: Stylists organise the fashion on set. They make sure the clothing goes together and is looking INCREDIBLE.

Do you need formal qualifications? Although you don't absolutely have to have any formal qualifications, it's a good idea to do a course in styling or fashion if you can!

How to get started: Try and link up with the stylists in your area and see if you can get an internship!


4. MUA

What they do: Makeup artists do the makeup on set!

Do you need formal qualifications? Yes - it's a good idea to do a course in makeup as it will give you the skills you need and help you build a portfolio.

How to get started: Complete a course and then try and secure some work using your portfolio!

5. Modelling coach

What they do: Modelling coaches teach models how to, well, model! They are experts in the industry and can help models reach their goals.

Do you need formal qualifications? No - most of the training will come from prior industry experience or will be trained on the job. 

How to get started: Try and link up with a model training academy in your area and see if you can get an internship!
